Using manipulative in early childhood is the effective because we keep the students engaged with the task with hands-on learning! They are able to grasp concepts better with concrete objects. These wouldn鈥檛 only be used for math skills, but also enable their creativity when we are building items to compare, and even brought into phonological awareness when segmenting words/sentences. We can use these in several subject areas. Several times I am able to show the kids concepts virtually, but at such a young age, hands-on material is best.
