If I were able to get my project funded, I could incorporate more hands on learning in our class and give the students a break from the constant online engagement in a fun and creative way! This year has been laden with videos, Zoom calls, and online Seesaw assignments and as wonderful as technology is, 7 year olds need more hands on activities for their development.
I hope to bring some balance to my classroom of students by getting some hands on materials that will help with their early development and give them a break from the screens.
The paints and canvas will allow them to create pictures and to go along with their creative writing. The books from their favorite series can be taken home to practice reading (as they are not able to check out from the library this year). The printer will allow me to print hands-on, paper-pencil activities that will give them a break from the iPad. Most teachers have a printer in their room, but I do not - and the shared printer is often broken.
