Audio equipment is a must for any music classroom and a Cd Player/Recorder is essential for music instruction in many ways. My students love to listen to many different kinds of music. They listen to learn about music of other countries and cultures. They listen to learn about instruments and the music of different time periods. Recording groups or individuals so that they can listen to themselves gives valuable feedback to the students and helps them to become better musicians. Listening is necessary to a well rounded music program.
It's not just music that is learned by listening; music supports learning in many core subjects. Song lyrics teach Social Studies and Language Arts. Rhythm and counting help with Math comprehension. This equipment will reach far beyond our four walls and help students convey emotions, motivation, a sense of connection and creativity by introducing them to music they would not necessarily be able to hear in our classroom.
