This project would give our students the tools needed to be successful not just in the music department but within the framework of a 21st Century learning environment. Involvement in the performing arts has residual effects not just on the child's musical progress but their academic progress as a whole. Music students score higher on standardized test, like the ACT and SAT, have better grades and are more likely to finish high school. Students who choose to follow music as a career path also are more likely to complete their degree path than any other major. Music helps kids be better, and a band program is just what our students need.
