I am a first year teacher at a Title I school. My project is about Flexible Seating and meeting the needs of my students. It is valuable to my students because it provides the opportunity for their sensory needs to be met. Flexible Seating gives students the opportunity to make a choice where in the classroom they want to learn, whether it be sitting under their desk or in another location of the classroom. The students are able to choose from having chair bands that they can use to push or pull with their legs to using a clipboard so they can walk around the classroom.
Flexible Seating increases learning that takes place in the classroom. If students are uncomfortable sitting in their desks all day, then they would much rather focus on other activities rather than the lessons. If there is anyway that I can meet my students' needs, then I will try to do what I can to help them succeed.
