In early childhood education, the majority of learning happens through creating, exploring, and observing. Students thrive when they are in a natural environment, and when they have the opportunity to be surrounded by a wide variety of elements to create with and observe. Nature also serves as a therapeutic environment in that it stimulates the senses and contributes to physical well-being. This combined with the therapeutic process of engaging in creative activity will provide our students with a safe and inspiring space to learn and grow within. This outdoor art studio will be used by our students, staff, and community members to create freely through and with nature! The donations in this project will give students the opportunity to sculpt, paint, weave, build, and more; all in an a therapeutic outdoor space. Students will be able to use the natural materials on our property, such as wood slices and long stems of grass and flowers, in conjunction with traditional art supplies and tools, to create unique works of art and discover the properties of nature. They will also have the opportunity to create large, collaborative works of art, which can be displayed and enjoyed in our outdoor art studio for many years to come. An investment in this outdoor art studio would benefit not only our students, but our entire school family! Our educators would be able to utilize the studio at any point to supplement their daily lessons- whether they be academic, social-emotional, or art-related. This outdoor studio space can also be used by our community members, during creative community events, or for hosting local resident artists. Thank you so much for helping us to make this outdoor art studio a reality for our school community!
