One of the most exciting things about the field of Speech Language Pathology is that it is constantly changing and growing. It鈥檚 essential to keep up with all of the most relevant evidence-based tools in order to provide effective and efficient therapy.
This school year will begin like no other. Rather than sitting face to face in our therapy room, my students and I will be embarking on a new journey in remote learning. All speech/language therapy will be provided in a video format. It's crucial during this model that we have reliable and effective video and audio connections. My current school issued laptop is not up to date and doesn't have the technology needed to support effective virtual therapy sessions. Using this computer to initiate virtual therapy in the spring brought many challenges. I was often faced with poor video/audio quality and audio lag times. When providing speech and language therapy, it is crucial to not only see and hear my students but also to be able to provide them with real-time speech and language models and feedback. I need a high speed computer that allows me to interact and engage with my students.
I have created my first donors choose project to fund a Macbook Pro which will allow me to provide the high-quality speech therapy my students deserve. Not only would this Macbook allow me to provide effective and quality services, it would benefit my students when we transition to in person learning as well. This computer will be utilized to document and track student data, create engaging materals, and connect to student AAC devices.
Thank you for reading and considering my project. I am entirely grateful for all the support I receive in helping my students succeed!
