Being a fourth grade ELA teacher, I place a strong emphasis on reading in my classroom. We read every single day, but most of our lessons are based off of texts that I choose for my students.
My goal is to expand my classroom library to give my students an opportunity to seek out and read books that interest them. I have recently switched from teaching second grade, so I do not have many books available to my students that are on their reading level, or interest level.
This, along with library restrictions due to COVID, has made it very hard for my students during independent reading time. My goal is to grow my classroom library and create a spark for reading in my current and future students.
