Having access to the best technology is the most important aspect of effective instruction during distance learning. With a Surface Pro, I would be able to give students a very content-rich experience through the tablet mode that I could not do on a laptop. This learning experience could then be transferred into the classroom when we return to the building, allowing for a more seamless transition when the time comes.
The books on my wish list will allow students to receive a read-aloud experience similar to what they would experience in their classroom. Because I am a first-year teacher who just graduated college, I have not had the chance to expand my classroom library. Because students are missing the socialization of in-person schooling, creating an experience during distance learning that as similar to their classroom as possible is crucial to keeping them engaged and retaining information. I know that if I am the one reading the books to them rather than someone random, the students will not only enjoy it more but also remember what I said for longer.
