While students usually start the first day of school in new, pressed school uniforms or at least new clothes, my students may be starting school in their pajamas this year. Also on Fridays, at most schools students are able to express their school spirit by wearing their school t-shirts---again not happening yet this year! So, my goal is to create and deliver a classroom community pack to each of my students so they can all feel a part of our classroom team even from home! I have requested plain white t-shirts and a tye-dye kit, which I will tye-dye for each of my students. We will wear our "Classroom Community" shirts on Fridays to show our team spirit from home. I have also requested journals and special pens for my students to journal about their journey in school and to hopefully we can bring them back in person to share when we finally get to come to class. If not we can share them in our Google Meets meetings daily. My last two items requested are to help during this technology required time of teaching. One thing is a laptop swivel stand so that while in google meetings I can move around the classroom to teach with smooth transitions and not having to readjust my computer camera each time. The last and final request is for Stylus pens for my students to use on their touch screen devices. In Pre-K part of my job is to teach students to hold a pen or pencil correctly. When working on a touch screen device the students are not forming the correct hand motions to begin writing with pencil and paper. The stylus' will help to form the proper muscles in the students hands to be able to write later in the year.
