The upcoming school year has presented new challenges on how to provide all of my students, at home and at school, with a fun, challenging, personally relevant coding problem that has them applying their solutions physically. Intro Micro bits!
I want to be able to provide all of my students the opportunity to broaden their understanding of computer science via meaningful application and be able to creatively express themselves. The Micro bits provide my students with a device and programming that goes beyond coding in a virtual world and brings it into the physical world.
Students will be challenged to creatively use sensors and actuators to develop systems that interact with their environment. They will be able to code and upload programs to the Micro bit that will perform a variety of authentic tasks (wearable technology, interactive art, mechanical devices, etc.). My students in the classroom have loved this approach, now I want the students who are at home to be able to experience it to!
