My project centers around creating a classroom library that will allow my students the chance to read works- both classic and contemporary- that offer a range of perspectives and experiences.
Having attended the same small, rural school as my current students, I know the excitement that comes with anything new. Books were often a way for me to travel beyond our tiny town when growing up, so I want to construct a classroom library that will allow my student to do the same.
Although most of my students have returned to school for face-to-face instruction, I know that they are still limited when it comes to what they can do, where they can go, and sometimes, who they can see. With this in mind, my hope is that the classroom library created by this project will be filled with a wide variety of works that will allow my students the chance to travel to new places, meet new people, and gain new experiences all within the safety of our classroom.
