I am privileged to work with students who range from Pre-K to seniors in high school. They face challenges every day (ranging from backgrounds of poverty, drug and alcohol abuse, and mental illness to name a few) as well as academic struggles related to physical, emotional, and learning disabilities. They face these challenges every day, but come back ready to learn and grow more each day, no matter how difficult it may be. The past two years of the pandemic have been very difficult for my students. My students need stability, and to know 鈥渢he plan鈥 that each day holds. Due to the health concerns of the pandemic, all of that stability has been ripped away. They are in a constant state of flux from ever-changing substitute teachers, in-person, hybrid, and distance learning, and scheduled activities which often change details and timing the week or day of. While this is exhausting to all students, my students are often in a heightened state of anxiety due to this ever-changing educational landscape that curtails their ability to 鈥渟how what they know.鈥
