Having access to an Ipad will provide my students with appropriate apps to give them a voice to communicate. Many students are non-verbal and are unable to use words or use very few words. The Ipad would allow them to make requests, answer questions, and ask questions to get their basic needs met. Other students with less severe disabilities would benefit by using Ipad apps that improve their articulation and language skills. The Ipad could also benefit students who stutter. These apps provide fun and engaging activities that motivate students to communicate and improve their skills.
An Ipad would also benefit students during virtual therapy because of the COVID pandemic. It allows me to have multiple screens in order to fully engage students to improve their communication skills. The Ipad also allows for easy data collection to track student progress. Also, for a speech-pathologist who travels between various schools, this device can store many materials and is easy to transport. Overall, it will provide my students with the best technology and engaging activities to help them with the very important skill of being able to communicate!
