The dictionaries I am requesting will replace the outdated copies that we have relied on for at least 15 years. These outdated dictionaries are missing pages, do not include current and necessary vocabulary, and are in generally poor shape.
Our students deserve access to current and updated resources, especially ones that expand their vocabulary and exposure to new information.
Currently, our junior high students rely on physical dictionaries when taking state wide and local assessments. In most Reading and Writing classrooms, students are forced to take turns using dictionaries because we do not have a full class set and the ones we do have are in poor condition. During testing circumstances, this presents a problem. In a world where testing so closely impacts our students, we want to do everything we can to set them up for success. A class set of updated dictionaries for each grade level on our junior high campus would make a significant impact in our students' exposure to new and current vocabulary.
