With this updated technology, I will be able to record and edit high-quality instructional videos that will guide students through this incredibly challenging academic year. The technology my school district provides unfortunately does not allow me to create content that meets the needs of my wide range of learners, many of whom require subtitles, interactive features, and live video-conferencing in order to succeed. Last Spring, I relied on my personal computer, which was slightly more capable than my work-provided technology, but still failed to provide stable connection during video conferences with students. That experience has shown me that in order to effectively teach my students virtually, I need to be able to produce and provide high-quality resources and support. It starts with access to technology.
This updated technology will help me provide my students with the most seamless, accessible experience possible during our year of unprecedented distance schooling. Help me make this year a success by taking care of the foundational resources that I need in order to be an effective educator in a virtual setting. Many of my students do not have access to their own computer and will be working on their phones without the support of additional learning tools, making it even more imperative that the content I share with them is clear and accessible.
