These items will be used to support my students in their classroom learning. I often use worksheets that depict pictures of ASL signs as a way for students to study the signs when they are not in class. The printer and USB hub that I am requesting will allow me to print the assignments for those students who do not have access to the activities at home, so I can provide them with a hard copy. These worksheets act as study guides for tests and assignments throughout the year.
Also, students often must complete assignments and word documents which they need to submit to their teachers. More than half of my students come from low income households and do not have access to printers at home. With a classroom printer, then can print their assignments.
Finally, since American Sign Language is a visual language, the majority of the curriculum is on DVD. The computer that is supplied to me by the school district does not have a DVD Rom, therefore, an external DVD/CD player is necessary to access the curriculum.
