Help me give my students good quality school supplies so they can begin the school year on equal footing.
School supplies can be a huge burden on families. In order for their child to be prepared for the first day of school, there is a plethora of supplies, clothing and miscellaneous items that they have to buy. Every year, I have students that show up on the first day of school without any materials. This is not because they do not want to buy them, but because they do not have the resources to get them. The situation can cause the beginning of the year to begin on a bad note because the students feel embarrassed at having to ask for supplies from the classroom.
Providing every student with supplies helps them begin the year on equal footing with their peers. Every student will have exactly what they need to be successful in the lessons. They will also have good quality supplies, meaning they will last longer and perform better. Through this, students have the option, but not the obligation, to purchase additional items for their learning.
When students begin the year knowing that they have the supplies they need, they are less stressful and more excited about beginning their learning. By helping to purchase these items, you are helping my students and their families worry less and save more.
