As a teacher it is my job to teach my students to see past any differences they may see around them. In order to do this, it is important to have books in my library that show children like them and families like theirs.
Having these books in my classroom will allow for discussions about how we should treat others. These books will show my students how even though someone may be different, they are welcomed in our classroom and our community. My students will learn to celebrate differences and see how they can learn from someone who is from a different culture.
