As my students return to the classroom for the first time since COVID-19, addressing student's mental health is my top priority. School social workers like myself are being tasked with helping students make sense of widespread trauma, loss, and uncertainty. This year I will be transitioning from the elementary school level to the middle and high school level, and with that need to update my evidence-based curriculum library to reflect my student population.
The products that I have selected will be used to facilitate both individual and group counseling sessions. For example, Unstuck and On Target will help students cultivate cognitive flexibility; SOAR will be used to help students who need additional support with organizational and study skills; CBT will be a tool for students who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and suicidality; and the notebooks are a part of a larger, positive psychology intervention wherein students engage in gratitude journaling. Other tools such as the assorted fidgets will be used as an accommodation for students who benefit from the added sensory input to help boost productivity and focus, and reduce anxiety and stress.
Thank you for whatever assistance you can provide to ensuring my students have access to evidence-based social-emotional and mental health supports!
