The materials I would love to have are ones I can integrate right away into every area of my classroom. I want all children to feel like they belong and have access to these materials in every part of our classroom. In the writing center, they will have the ability to illustrate in characters in people shades, in the building center they can use block characters that look like themselves, and in our classroom library the books will contain characters and subjects they recognize. By tying the learning materials to the students prior knowledge and experiences, I can create an environment where the children feel free to create, think, question, and express themselves. The materials will be available to all children, all the time!
