This is only my second year teaching AP Economics at our school and I am really rebuilding the program after it did not exist for almost a decade at our school. All of the class materials were tossed out and the curriculum has changed so much that my students and I need constant access to technology because our print resources are out of date.
The markers, mini whiteboards, and erasers will allow students to graph during lessons and become more comfortable with graphing. I have noticed that students are hesitant to experiment with graphing because they are unsure of themselves. Using whiteboards allows them to work on graphs with the reassurance of an easy erase and fix if they do need to fix something
The laptop is needed to access several different graphing simulation sites to also give students another resource to improve their understanding of a concept. We also use many resources from the different Federal Reserve Branch sites. There is a huge access gap for some of our students to overcome. Having a reliable computer in my class where they can work on lessons, contribute to projects, and experiment with simulators will help close that gap.
