For this distance learning project, I would love to add some English bilingual dictionaries for my EL (English Learner) students in Spanish, Portuguese, and Vietnamese. These are the three main languages spoken in my classroom. I would also like for my students to have books for read alouds that are bilingual. This can help with translanguaging and can create concrete and visual learning for students. Multicultural crayons will be an excellent choice for my students as well. I want them to be able to choose colors that look like them
EL students are constantly learning and growing and they need access to grade level content to become successful in both school and life. To help with this, these picture bilingual dictionaries can create autonomy. Students can look up a word that they do not know in the dictionary in their home language and see the word in English as well as a picture to help scaffold visual learning. I can post pictures of these dictionaries on google classroom to help with vocabulary and comprehension. Additionally, bilingual books can help students feel proud of their languages; especially when read aloud to the whole class. These books would help drastically for my distance learning project.
