The creation of an outdoor sensory experience will allow my special education student's the ability to engage in activities in a variety of ways.
The texture of rice, feel of cool water, soft play-dough, rough sand, bright colors, different smells, and swinging in a hammock reading a book will enable my student's to experience the world and increase their comfort with learning.
Sensory experiences allow for an increase in learning. Most of our learning comes through our ability to use our senses to RETAIN information. Sensory exploration encourages language development, scientific thinking, and problem solving. The use of the lap desks and hammocks will allow student's to learn outdoors in nature. This calming space will ensure excitement for school!!
Please help give my Title 1 student's a more comfortable, vibrant, and calm way to learn!
