This particular rug is a superior upgrade from the duct tape square we are currently using. Over time, the tape comes loose, gets dirty, and must constantly be replaced.
This carpet circle not only helps to define where to sit in the music room, but can also be used as an educational resource. Being a circle, the attention can more easily be focused towards the center of the room where everyone can see and communicate equally. This particular rug also utilizes music symbols and a staff at the center which allows me to teach without having to focus attention behind me towards a white board when teaching students how to read music and identify music symbols. I can actually "write" musical notation on the carpet where everyone can see it.
