Schools are doing all that they can to help students access learning. They are mailing out paper packets, lending out devices, and helping teachers, like myself, navigate apps like google classroom to continue learning. The district I work in is lending out devices to help students get online. However, they are starting with the high school students. My students are in elementary. Although not at risk for meeting state requirements to graduate at this point, they are missing out on instruction and connections. These tablets will help these students gain access to google classroom, google meets with their teachers and peers, and online learning games.
Many of my students have been hard at work continuing their education by completing packets that I have mailed or dropped off at their houses. Others are taking turns with multiple school age students in the house on their parents phones. To encourage all their efforts, I will use this project to allow students to win these devices. This will be used both as an incentive and a way for them to access virtual learning.
