Supplies will be used for assessing student reading comprehension through literature posters regarding character analysis, point of view, theme analysis, dialogue, and sequencing of events. Students may map the journey of Odysseus or illustrate the world as seen through the eyes Pony Boy.
Having community supplies, rather than students purchasing their own, eliminates my low-income students from feeling inferior to their peers when their family cannot provide the basic supplies. Students will have a sense of equality which will increase their confidence and success in the classroom.
My student population does best with project-based assessment. I try to reduce student test anxiety by having them collaborate on smaller assessments and then work up to individual assessments.
