Flexible seating in my classroom will not simply be a variety of enjoyable places to complete student work, but it will also give students a voice in how they learn best! I want to give my students the opportunity to have a choice in their learning environment and give them an abundance of opportunities to collaborate with their peers.
These materials will make a difference in my students' learning in a variety of ways such as having a choice and control over their environment. Another difference flexible seating will have in our classroom is acknowledging students health. We all know students need to move and the seating I chose will do just that. Students will be able to wiggle, bounce, rock and that movement will bring more oxygen to their brains allowing them to stay focused. Last, but certainly not least, flexible seating will make a difference in my students' learning by bringing comfort into our classroom. Along with student choice comes that comfort piece I desire for my students. I believe if you're comfortable where you're working you'll be able to stay focused and productive on your desired task.
Our seating options will be used in a variety of ways. For example, the convertible flip chair will be used for students to collaborate with their peers. The exercise balls can be used at student desks giving students the ability to bounce while seated. For students who don't do well in desks and simply like to have their personal space on the floor can make use of the surf lap desks. These are just a few ways I will utilize flexible seating in our classroom to empower my students in their learning environment!
