These books will be used in an Advanced ELA class during a Civil Rights Unit. They will provide students the opportunity to read within the Historical Fiction Genre. The book will act as a backdrop to the non-fiction, research articles that we will be reading in class. These books will provide students with the opportunity to ask questions about the time period and to learn about the 1960's in a different and more fun way.
These books will assist the students in a counter-historical analysis of "What May Have Happened Had JFK Not Been Assassinated" as well as research on the Butterfly Effect and what it is. This project will give students insight into Civil Rights, the 1960's, and JFK in a more in-depth way than just reading a text book. Students will be able to look into JFK's life and decisions on Civil Rights and discuss why his assassination had such a great impact on history.
