I teach in a low-socioeconomic community where we have a dual-language program (English/Spanish). If there is something we lack, it is Spanish books. They are difficult to find and to purchase. My classroom library is composed of mostly English reading books and my students need more Spanish reading books; desperately! There is not a day when a student asks for a Spanish book in their reading level and I turn them down, for we do not have any.
Our school library is slowly growing its Spanish inventory yet still, it is not satisfying our students' needs. Then there are budget cuts! It affects us adults and it definitely affects our students.
My students will greatly benefit from new Spanish reading books that they themselves have requested.
