Bringing choice to reading goes a long way when it comes to getting high school students excited to read--which is the first step in their journey to becoming lifelong readers. Many of my students think they do not enjoy reading simply because they do not have the right choices in front of them. Some of my students do not have books at home, others cannot afford to buy the books they want to read, and still, others have not been presented with a book that fits their interests. Thus, it is important to provide them with as many opportunities to read and learn as possible. This collection of books includes multiple reading levels to make sure I can reach all students, whether they struggle or excel in reading. Further, this project includes books from a diverse set of viewpoints, cultural backgrounds, and topics. The more diverse my classroom library is, the more I can directly provide for my diverse group of students. This project allows my students to improve their reading skills and learn about cultures other than their own. I am excited to see the growth and excitement my students will experience through this project!
