Students love to learn how to play different sports. Unfortunately, students today are not as physically active as they should be. I want to promote a more active lifestyle by giving the students the opportunity to learn the basic skills of different sports. Some sports they are familiar with but never played because they were not taught the basic skills. In my physical education class, I teach my students the skills, history, rules, and terminology of a sport. With the footballs, soccer balls and frisbees, I can teach my students the skills needed to play activities such as flag football, soccer, ultimate frisbee and frisbee golf. My goal is to create a lifelong love for physical activity so students will continue being physically active when they become adults.
All students look forward to being able to play and learn in my physical education class. Physical Education generally has large classes and not enough equipment for each student to have one to practice with. I would like to be able to cut down on student wait time. Even though we are careful with the equipment we have, the foot balls, soccer balls and frisbees get too worn to use, thus depleting my inventory. During class time, we only have approximately 30-35 minutes of actual skills practice time and having enough equipment to utilize the maximum amount of that time would be beneficial. My wish is to be able to decrease the wait time for students and be able to get a piece of equipment in each student鈥檚 hands for ultimate practice time.
