Being at a STEAM magnet school, my students are constantly applying what they learn in order to design and engineer projects. My students love to get messy and try new materials as they navigate engineering processes. We've already worked together to design a structure to represent our unit on building community, and we just culminated a 3-dimensional representation of a severe weather event for our unit on weather and climate. Countless hours are spent constructing projects that represent their understanding of each unit, yet many parts go missing when multiple days are needed for completion. By allowing everyone to have their own "cubby" for storage, students can rest assured that their projects remain in-tact until completion.
