These tablets will allow my students to interact more during lessons, engage them in new ways to complete assignments, have access to more apps and websites that will enhance their learning, and teach them valuable technology skills. In addition, students will be able to use these to practice critical computer science skills, such as coding, as our state makes a shift to requiring teacher such as myself to teach these skills to students.
One of the ways technology makes learning come alive is through interactive online games, quizzes, and use of math manipulatives at their fingertips. It also allows for students with special needs to access apps or use a touch screen to complete assignments they might otherwise have difficulty writing on paper.
The engagement that comes with using technology cannot be overstated. The demands we have of our little learners is high, and without motivation and engagement we cannot expect them to meet the expectations that have been set. As a teacher, one of my primary goals is to promote high levels of students engagement in order to achieve high levels of student success.
