I am a first-year teacher, and I teach self-contained grades K-5. Even though I teach students in all of those grades and they all have different academic levels, one thing they all have in common is that they love to move! In their seat and out of their seat. I try to include as much movement learning as I can as well as letting them dance along to "Just Dance" videos on break.
Having these flexible seats will greatly improve their behavior and performance. Even though I have them going from chair to floor, the seats are not the best. In my class, I have a range of behavior and stimulus needs; therefore, I am working on creating my room to become available for all of my students and their needs! I have done research on these seats, and they can really increase focus and promote student movement during work in a positive way, as well as be used as a calming sensory for students who need it with their behavior.
