Students in all grade levels use instruments in the music room. The barred instruments (xylophones, metallophones) are used by all, but mostly by 2nd grade through 5th grade. Students love to play these instruments! They are also learning and demonstrating how to perform a melody, an accompaniment, composing, and improvising on these instruments.
A select group of students, who are in Music Club, also use these instruments to go more in-depth and do more performing and creating with their extra time with them. There are more students than instruments and I would like to give another opportunity to another student by bringing another instrument into the classroom. The soprano xylophone often has the melody, and having only 2 is very limiting for a piece of music. The goal is to have at least 4. Having another soprano xylophone would give another student the opportunity to learn and perform the melody.
We take turns while playing, so that everyone gets a chance, but it would be really great to let another student perform on the concert. There are interested students, but I can only choose so many since we do not have that many instruments.
Thank you so much for your support of the arts and children learning music!
