Our school is so community-based, THIS is what students bring up every time they check-in. They miss being able to see one another and talk without waiting for someone to unfreeze. My current equipment is not up to par for distance learning. With this MacBook Pro and headphones I will be able to host amazing class sessions, post videos showing students how to engage in History and English lessons, and better conduct critical 1:1 meetings.
Students need seamless collaboration opportunities from home. The best learning I've seen from students is when they are able to learn FROM one another. Being able to host functional Zoom meetings with breakout rooms will be key to their success in distance learning.
Distance learning has also shifted the way we support students. Students need 1:1 check-ins. They need to feel seen and heard. This equipment will help me ensure students are connected even when we cannot see each other in person. As an advisor to 30 students, consistent weekly meetings will help students meet their goals of graduation, college, and career.
