This is my first full year in teaching the mod/severe special education class at my school. Since beginning my work, my class has grown from 6 students to 12, each with unique needs and abilities. In addition, I have worked hard to change school climate about the mod/sev program as a whole. Since beginning my work, my students have gone from eating lunch inside the classroom and having a separate recess to being included in their general education classrooms for part of the day and socializing alongside their peers during most non-academic activities. My job is continue to build upon this momentum of change as I begin to create more enriching learning opportunities for these exceptional kids.
