The focus of this project is to support my students in independent learning. Some goals include completing an independent activity schedule and working independently for increasing amount of times on activities of their choice to foster independence and self-advocacy. The activities I have selected are engaging, and will allow students to use their hands to manipulate materials while problem solving.
Our students' goals include letter and number recognition, motor skill development, matching pictures, knowing functional concepts (days of the week, months of the year).
As part of that learning --teaching letter recognition (that is needed to be able to read simple everyday environmental signs) through a play activity helps me keep their focus and engage them in recognizing letters while playing the "Alphabet Learning Locks' game.
These tools will help expand their ability to make choices while learning in a fun and exciting way.
