Our school district is currently planning for a return to school for our students with the most extensive support needs. One of the suggestions is to increase opportunities for outdoor learning to minimize potential indoor exposure. We are looking to expand our offerings beyond what is typically available at recess and need help with some of the big ticket items.
Help us welcome back our students with new outdoor learning activities! We currently have a road painted on the blacktop with no tricycle to use it. A tricycle is a great way to develop foundational motor skills such as bilateral coordination, core strength, and hand eye coordination. They also offer an opportunity to teach receptive language (鈥淪top! Go! Slow! Fast! Left. Right.鈥). Many of our students need extra support learning social interactions. Both the building blocks and road building set will help us facilitate these crucial skills; turn taking, requesting, waiting, sharing, following directions, and team work.
