We have explored ways to create music using a borrowed set of handbells. We have retold stories, and practiced early coding skills while writing music together. My students have been thrilled with the learning experience of creating their own music. Using the bells reinforces left to right pre-reading skills, sequencing, and teamwork.
My students will receive the opportunity to practice their new learned social skill , collaboration, while using these instruments. I am excited to offer the students a chance to explore instruments more in depth. Research shows that students who know at least 8 nursery rhymes by heart are more likely to be successful readers With these instruments my students will play nursery rhymes which will reinforce the rhyme in their memory using multiple senses.
