All of our students want to feel important and valued in the classroom. Our school is like most public schools in urban education with limited resources and funding. Students are so excited to see a classroom decorated because it shows them that their teacher is invested and interested in creating a positive learning environment. In urban education, simple things like decorating a room can greatly influence how the student behaves and conducts themselves in the learning environment. This can reassure students of the teacher's commitment not only to them but to the school because of the effort they put into decorating the classroom. Additionally, I've requested for my project some basic materials to help supplement the school's extremely limited access to technology. With having such a high volume of students, individual whiteboards for students to use during class would help immensely for comprehension check-ins, content review games, and so much more. Classroom materials and resources that can be reused are extremely helpful when having such a large class load. These students love to participate in educational games and thrive in a hands-on educational setting, which I hope to better provide them with as a result of these donations.
