We are in the process of making our Physical Education environment an innovative one that will mimic those they will see in gyms during their adulthood. The smart TV's and chrome book would help my class be more mobile and allow us to check the heart rate monitor status without stopping activity to go to the PC located in the locker room. Also purchasing aerobic/strength videos that resemble those provided at a gym are very expensive and quickly become outdated. With smart TV's we have access to new aerobic/strength classes available online. This expands the possibilities of activities that I can introduce my students to from our gym.
Physical education needs to be a fun, enjoyable environment where students can develop positive attitudes about physical activity. My students love the new and innovative games and fitness activities that I present but I'm running out of ideas. The access to different classes online would allow me to keep it fresh, fun, and invigorating for my students.
Studies have shown that exercise for children and teens can:
Increase strength and flexibility
Reduce stress and anxiety
Improve focus and concentration
Develop executive function
which not only leads to better academic performance but also lays a strong foundation for lifelong success. I believe in these findings and want to teach my students the benefits of exercise for their-selves and future family.
