This year, students will be asked to spend most of their time learning on chrome books and other types of technology. This pandemic has drastically changed so much for my students and I'd like to provide them with as much of what comes naturally while learning in ELA class as possible.
These books will make a huge difference in their learning because it will be a tangible book, one that can be annotated and held, like they were used to prior to COVID. One of my favorite parts of teaching in the classroom is getting to see the students fall in love with the stories and use the skills they learned to mark off their favorite sections.
This project will help my students keep a sense of normalcy while engaging in their book clubs even if we end up having to learn remotely. Since sharing won't be possible this year, having enough copies of each title will make it possible for every student to have their own novel to work with until they are finished with it. This will allow us to adhere to health and safety guidelines and keep everyone as safe as possible.
