I teach 8th grade math to over 100 students on a daily basis. The classroom sizes range from 21-27 students. I am finding that my students do not know how to maintain and organize their classroom materials and notes to facilitate learning and studying. Our current math workbooks are heavy, cumbersome and overwhelming for my students. I plan to have students tear out each unit as we are doing it. I want to use the folders so that students are only looking at one unit at a time and they know that all notes and handouts for the unit are stored there.
X-Y axis dry erase boards will allow students to hold up answers and allow me to see at a glance who has mastered concept and who has not. It will allow for plenty of much needed practice without waste and loss of papers. This skill is so important as it runs throughout our 8th grade math lessons.
