As a middle school English teacher, I am constantly going back and forth over the advantages and disadvantages of technology in the classroom. There are some aspects of learning that are immensely enhanced by the use of devices like Chromebooks. However, there are many tasks and activities that are hindered and prolonged by their use.
By using reusable LCD writing boards, students can practice skills, record their thinking, ask questions, and collaborate with their peers quickly and easily. Instead of powering up their Chromebooks for quick participation and formative assessment activities, students can record their responses on their reusable writing tablets. Having these writing boards in the classroom will help minimize the distractions Chromebooks cause and drastically reduce the amount of wasted paper and transition time.
