Students in my classroom are used to learning from home. They have been struggling to find focus at times in the classroom among all of their peers, after all, they haven't had a "normal school year" since Kindergarten! The items I am requesting are all items that my students have asked me to buy for them (to help them focus). The privacy partitions will allow them to have privacy during their tests and quizzes. Right now, students are putting up their homework folders around their desks, which often fall and create a distraction during testing or independent work time. The headphones with the mic will help students focus during their reading time. Also, I plan to have students record themselves reading and listen back to their recording so that they can monitor their growth with fluency. The reusable water bottles will help them attend to basic needs. Because of covid, school water fountains are off limit, and students are often thirsty during the day. They spend much of their day after recess verbalizing how thirsty they are. If they had reusable water bottles, we can keep help students stay hydrated. The wobble chairs will give me more space at the small groups table (which will allow a more productive work time), support my students who need to move, and get students excited to work in small reading and math groups. Last, the stretchy resistance bands will help students who struggle with sitting still and need to move their feet or need sensory input.
