Research proves that the brain and body work in synchronization, and when bodies are in movement the brain can think more clearly. Neurophysiologist Carla Hannaford states, "movement is essential to learning." Active seating will allow for students to engage in slight movement while reading, allowing for the interplay of active motion and brain activity to align. The chairs are also light in weight, which allows the students to move them to different stations within the library. This self choice can allow the students to feel independent about their reading and learning opportunities. The wobble chairs allow for the essential wiggles to be released (that students and adults) often experience when sitting. The soft seating chairs allow for students to sit comfortably while reading for pleasure in the library.
