Students across our K-5 school are practicing a new fluency strategy called Dyad reading. To do this, we need books that will excite and motivate students who struggle with reading, as well as proficient students who just need more engagement.
All students will have access to these great books, and will perform partner reading for 15 minutes a day. It is important that these books are leveled, or can be leveled easily for this type of structured activity to work. Each partner set will have a proficient reader assisting a non-proficient reader. Book choice is one of the most important concepts of this activity, since both students need topics that excite or intrigue them.
