As a school-based SLP, my goal is to help my students effectively communicate and enable them to access the curriculum to promote academic success. My students work on a variety of goals related to the 鈥媋rticulation of speech sounds, fluency, reading, writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and more. My students are sweet, loving children with a strong willingness to learn who experience a range of learning disabilities including Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, Intellectual Disability, and Speech and Language Delay. In today's day and age, technology can unlock one's potential and provide immense growth and learning for students in the school environment. Students in grades Pre-K through 5th will be able to use these iPads to access specific therapy apps and activities related to their therapy goals. Furthermore, these iPads will aid in engaging students and increasing motivation to complete tasks. Several evidence-based therapeutic practices offer online and tech-based programs that are more easily accessible for my students. Whether therapy sessions are conducted in the student's classroom or in my therapy room, the iPads can be accessed and used throughout the school building. I believe that student participation, motivation, and overall increased ability to effectively communicate will increase. With these iPads, students will be given the ability to become a partner in communication and continue to hit all their speech and language goals!
